Measuring For Sod

SodStar’s turfgrass varieties are priced per square foot (sq. ft.). So, before you order or purchase your sod, you must first calculate how many square feet of sod you will need for your yard.

• 1) To begin your calculations, sketch your site onto a piece of paper.
• 2) Mark off areas into geographical shapes.
• 3) With a tape measure or wheel, measure the dimensions of each shape, and record those on your sketch.
• 4) Next, click on each shape below to see the formula needed to calculate the square footage of that shape.
• 5) Finally, add up the square feet needed for each shape to determine the total amount of sod needed for your site.
